Dave Ellis
Dave Ellis is a pastor, writer, speaker, and host of the | Practice podcast. His work explores spiritual formation and the quiet, often hidden work of becoming more like Jesus in everyday life.
Born in South London and raised in Nottingham, Dave’s early life included a season in Jamaica and experiences that would later shape his understanding of grace, identity, and redemption. As a young man he became involved in music, writing lyrics and performing within the UK R&B and rap scene. Music became an early outlet for expression and storytelling, something that continues to influence the way he communicates today.
After a dramatic turning point in his life, Dave committed himself to following Christ. What began as a personal transformation gradually grew into a calling to help others discover their true identity in God.
Today Dave serves as a pastor and compassion advocate, working with people from a wide range of backgrounds — including those facing addiction, homelessness, poverty, and involvement in the criminal justice system. His work is rooted in a deep belief that no life is beyond redemption and that transformation often begins quietly, in the ordinary moments of everyday life.
Through his writing, teaching, podcast conversations, and simple spiritual practices, Dave invites people to slow down, see clearly, and notice the presence of God already at work.
He lives in Nottingham, UK with his wife and their four children.
